Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cup flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 4 tbsp butter, softened
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tbsp matcha
  • 1 egg
  • For The Topping: 7 oz white chocolate (melted), 1 tbsp matcha, 4 tbsp heavy cream.

    Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a muffin tin with paper liners and set aside. Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl. Whisk together and transfer to a large mixing bowl. Add butter, milk, and egg. Beat well for 3 minutes on high speed.

    Divide the batter between lined cups and bake for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and chill for a while.

    Meanwhile, prepare the topping. In an electric mixer fitted with paddle attachment, beat together chocolate, matcha, and heavy cream. Fill a large pastry bag with this mixture and pipe onto the chilled cupcakes.

When I first heard about using matcha green tea in different dessert recipes, I was a bit skeptical – combining green tea with different sweet ingredients and creating a dessert? It didn't sound interesting to me. But, I always like to try something new and this sounded like a wonderful challenge.

After trying a couple of recipes, I have to admit – I love the taste of matcha in desserts! It perfectly balances the sugar and gives a perfect aroma I simply can't resist. Besides, matcha is extremely healthy due to its high nutritional content.

These beautiful and simple cupcakes are based on the best high-quality matcha green tea powder, milk, and softened butter. Of course, you can combine matcha green tea with your favorite cupcakes recipe or add different nuts to the batter for even better flavor and crunchy texture.
