  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup softened butter
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2oz chopped chocolate, melted
  • 1 tbsp maca powder
  • ¼ cup + 2tbsp granulated sugar
  • 4oz plain Greek yogurt
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp confectioners' sugar
  • Blueberries and raspberries for topping

  • Mixing bowl
  • Stand mixer
  • Baking pan
  • Parchment paper

  • In a medium bowl, combine together all-purpose flour, cocoa, and salt. Mix all well and then add maca powder. Mix again and set aside.

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine butter and ¼ cup of sugar. With a paddle attachment on, beat well until completely incorporated. Add melted chocolate, egg yolk, and vanilla extract. Beat well again.

  • Now, add the flour mixture and continue to beat until smooth dough. Transfer to a medium bowl and knead until smooth. Refrigerate for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

  • Line a large baking pan with some parchment paper and set aside. In a small bowl, combine together plain Greek yogurt (you can use vanilla-flavored for some extra flavor) and confectioners' sugar. Mix well and set aside.

  • Remove the dough from the refrigerator and knead well again. Form into ¾-inch balls and roll in the remaining sugar to coat. Place in the prepared baking dish, about an inch apart and press each ball with your thumb. Bake for about 10-15 minutes or until completely set and slightly cracked. Remove from the oven and cool to a room temperature.

  • Meanwhile, rinse well and prepare fruit. If using large raspberries, make sure to slice each in half. Fill cookies with the Greek yogurt mixture and top with fruit. Cool completely before serving.

Chocolate Maca Thumbprints with Greek Yogurt and Berries

Beautifull crispy chocolate cookies are combined with maca powder, filled with creamy Greek yogurt, and finally topped with fresh fruit for a mind-blowing dessert everybody will adore.

The cookie base, with its unique flavor, can also be filled with your favorite jam, cream cheese with some vanilla extract, your favorite jello, or even some more melted chocolate.

When it comes to toppings, I have decided to go with berry classics – raspberries and blueberries. However, other great options that will go perfectly with the chocolate flavor of the cookie are definitely finely chopped peaches, minced walnuts or almonds, or strawberries.

Prepare several batches and store these amazing cookies in an air-tight container up to a week. Everybody will love them!
