Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 4 tbsp Zen Spirit Psyllium Husk Powder
  • ¼ cup flax meal
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • Mixed seeds to taste

Utensils

  • Mixing bowl
  • Hand mixer
  • Parchment paper
  • Baking sheet

DIRECTIONS

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with some parchment paper and set aside.

  • In a large bowl, combine together almond flour, psyllium husk powder, flax meal, garlic powder, salt, onion powder, cream of tartar, and baking soda.

  • Add egg whites, egg, and one cup of boiling water. Using a hand mixer on medium speed, beat well until a smooth dough has been formed.

  • Using a spoon, measure the dough to make buns. Add to the prepared baking sheet and shape with your hands. Make sure to leave enough room between the buns as they will rise in the oven. If the dough is too sticky, you might want to grease your hands with some olive oil.

  • Sprinkle with seeds and bake for 45 minutes.

  • Serve with some mashed avocado, poached egg, mixed greens, cherry tomato, and mustard seeds. Enjoy!

Low Carb Burger Buns

Delicious burgers are probably among those foods you miss most when following a low-carb diet. Having a good recipe that can replace your regular, store-bought buns and still taste fantastic is a life-saver for those nasty carb cravings we all experience once in a while.

Low Carb Burger Buns
This delicious recipe will give you 5 standard buns within about an hour of total preparation time which is quite impressive. It also contains only 2.7 grams of net carbs per bun which is fabulous for a guilt-free lunch, dinner or snack.

Once you have your burger buns arranged over the baking sheet, sprinkle with some seeds to taste – we have decided to combine black sesame seeds, golden flax seeds, and pumpkin seeds. You can also spray your buns with some olive oil cooking spray so the seeds will stick to the buns. It’s up to you.

Low Carb Burger Buns3
These burger buns will take about 45 minutes in the oven. Once they’re done, remove them and allow them to cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Slice each bun in half and stuff with your favorite low-carb foods. You can add a classic burger (make sure to choose low-carb ones) or stuff your buns with some healthier version. Enjoy!
